Some of the many things my grandmother taught us: 
•Always make copious amounts of delicious food, because you never know who might stop by.
•Dessert IS one of the basic food groups, especially chocolate cakes, brownies and apple pies.
•I Can't Believe it's not Butter containers really DON'T contain butter, they contain leftovers. LOTS of leftovers.
oAs the saying goes: Waste not, want not.
•Expiration dates are a suggestion.
•June Cleaver does exist
oMen's undershirts should be ironed. 
oThere's no such thing as a stain that can't be removed.  Tide detergent had nothing on Cathy.
oDoesn't everyone do dishes in heels or go go boots?
•NEVER pay full price for anything, EVER. When you go to the grocery store and they give you money back, it's a great day.
•It IS possible to talk for 12 hours, straight, multiple days in a row.
•Don't call between 7 and 8pm  Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy are on TV.
•There's no such thing as a dead plant.  Any plant can be resurrected with a little TLC and a magic green thumb.
•It's okay to mispronounce people's names or just make up new ones.  Some examples include:  MishKaren instead of Michele or Karen; TJ, PJ, DJ instead of CJ and my personal favorite, Razzles instead of Matthew. Razzles was Karen's pet bird.
•Being able to answer obscure history trivia questions comes in handy during family game night.
•Make sure you have the game on when the family comes over, it keeps the men in check.
•And lastly, there is no such thing as a stranger.  Everyone can be a friend.

My grandmother had boundless energy and her love of life was contagious.  She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh, which she fortunately passed on to all of her children and grandchildren. My memories of her are filled with so much warmth and love.  She was the strongest person I have ever known and I am comforted in the knowledge that she is with my grandfather and my Uncle Michael, watching over us.  
I would now like to read a special message from Jonah: 
It's not every day our earth is blessed with the presence of someone as special as Catherine. My grandmother, Catherine Rose Potestio, was more than just a grandma to me. She was my best friend, the love and light of my life, and my favorite person on the planet. For my entire life, she loved me unconditionally, and has had an everlasting influence on me.  Day after day, she showered me in endless amounts of love, and that love will be more than enough to carry me through my lifetime. She will be forever in my heart, and my countless memories of her will never fail to put a smile on my face. Every time I see the sun shine, I will think of our sunny days on Sunny Beach Boulevard. Every time a rainbow flashes across the sky, I will think of the special and rare friendship that I shared with her. Thank you for taking care of me for all of my life. I love you, Grandmoo.

There are so many gifts parents give to their children, but there is none greater than love.  Our mother's love was endless.  Her love provided us with security, confidence, support, and joy.  She so effortlessly shared her love with everyone she knew.  She was a treasured sister, aunt, cousin, friend, neighbor, and in the end, patient.

She never sat down, and never let us down.  She never stopped giving of herself.  She always had our backs and kept us on the right path.  She could tell us what to do without saying a word.  She knew when to be a Mom, and when to be a Friend.  She believed in us and made every day special.  She welcomed each of us into this world with loving arms, and she will welcome us into the next.

As we celebrate our mother's life and the beautiful memories she has created, our hearts are heavy as we have lost the heart and soul of our family.  She was the person who loved the most.  Our wish for our mother is for her to know that she was the most loved.

We miss you so much, Mom.

I was saddened to hear of your loss. I have some fond memories of your mother. On my first visit to Detroit as a child I was with your mother when I was taken to the Hudson Parade.  Your mother and her sister gave me a princess doll. Your mother helped my aunt Ollie do a bridal shower for me in Detoit. My prayers and thoughts are with you. (my dad Mike is your mom's cousin)

Michele, Karen and families.  I was saddened and shocked to hear about your mothers passing. I spoke with her last fall while she was having a garage sale and she looked wonderful. My prayers are with you during this time.  She is now with her beloved and your brother walking with the angels!

Michele, Karen and family: Im so sorry for your loss. I have some of the fondest memeories growing up next to Mrs. Potestio, Karen and I where grade school friends and used to play over at karens house. I will always remeber how kind Mrs Potestio was and how much fun we had. My prayers and thoughts are with the entire family.

Karen, Tony and family: Cathy and I are so sorry for your loss but truly believe she's in a better place. Peace to you and yours as you grieve her passing.   Ron Irwin/Cathy Piett

  Michele, Karen and family. I am so very sorry to hear of Cathy's passing.  She was a wonderful person and a dear friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Cathy always provided for others.  She hosted countless family gatherings and never missed a chance to be present at her grandchildren's sporting events or plays.
