

David Quinton Stone MD, passed away on February 2, 2017 at the age of 86. “Doc”, as he was affectionately known, was born and raised in Petoskey, Michigan. He attended undergraduate at Albion College and graduated from medical school at Wayne State University in 1956. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, 821st Medical Group and specialized in Industrial Medicine with Ford Motor Company. He practiced as a Plant Physician at the Wixom Assembly Plant, Chief Plant Physician at Ford Rouge Complex and Wayne Assembly Stamping Plant before retiring in 1991. He was an avid music lover and accomplished musician, singing in choirs at Milford United Methodist Church, Anona United Methodist Church in Largo, Florida and most recently at Commerce United Methodist Church. He sang in the Waterford Big Chief Barbershop Chorus and played and taught saxophone and clarinet. "Doc" loved his Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays and the Detroit Lions. He was preceded in death by his son, SFC Douglas Stone and his wife Norma Stone. He is survived by three daughters, Susan (Tony) D'Astoli, Kathy Lou (Bob) Hendley, Peggy (Bud) McVea, daughter-in-law Mary Stone, eight grandchildren, January Sterling, Quinton Hooper, Nate and Cameron Stone, Hunter, David and Sarah Hendley, Sean McVea, sister Marilyn Whitfield, brother Karl Stone and stepsons John and Larry Monce. A Memorial Service followed by military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Commerce United Methodist Church, 1155 N Commerce Rd., Commerce Twp., Michigan 48383. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 am until the time of service. Please join the family in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service for a lunch prepared by the United Methodist Women. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
