

Dolores, a lifelong resident of Waterford, Michigan, was born June 15, 1937. She passed peacefully into Heaven in her home on January 22, 2026. She is survived by her daughter (Jill), son (Michael) and granddaughter (Kristen). She was preceded in death by her husband (Buddy), grandson (Anthony) and daughter-in-law (Lori).
The definition of "Mother" in the Merriam Webster Dictionary could have a picture of Dolores as its definition. She lived her life for the care and betterment of her family. She had a kind, gentle spirit with an incredible inner strength. She was practical and put her children sacrificially before herself. She hated knowing that any of her family was hurting and did what she could to help.
She truly set an example for all to follow. She pointed her children to Christ especially in the hardest times that her family walked through. She may not have understood God's plan but she believed in his sovereignty and goodness. When her shy, introverted daughter hated going to school, she encouraged her daughter by reading her Psalm 118:24 which states “this is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it” to encourage her every morning. She was a sports Mom and attended every sporting game her son played throughout his life and cheered him on! She scrubbed every stain out of every uniform and brought snacks to every game.
She loved to laugh and was often the target of her husband’s shenanigans. She made the best goulash, lasagna, and fried hundreds of tacos in her lifetime. She enjoyed watching Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, eating popcorn, nachos and chocolate. She relished in a good craft project. Her family will cherish the memories of enjoying a weekend afternoon on the deck with her amongst the flower and vegetable garden while grilling dinner. She loved watching all the birds and squirrels that came into the feeder and counted each one.
She loved her fur babies (Pumpkin, Max, Pickles and Rocky) so well. In her last months, she wanted a lap dog to cuddle with so her family rescued two little doggies for her to snuggle with. Little did they know that these precious dogs would really be a gift to them as they have brought so much joy and laughter in these hard days.
She adored her grandchildren. She loved sleep overs with them and watching movies like Parent Trap and Herbie the Love Bug. She enjoyed taking the kids for happy meals, to the playground and letting them have ice cream for breakfast. They called her Nana. She loved every minute of it and them.
Dolores was a treasure and an incredible blessing to her family. Navigating life for them won’t be easy without her but she left a legacy for them to follow.
A visitation will take place on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at the Elton Black and Son Union Lake Chapel located at 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm. The visitation will continue at 10:00AM Saturday, January 31st, 2026 with a service to follow at 11:00am. Dolores will be laid to rest at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Clarkston, Michigan.
