Doris Ann Gallaty

Doris Ann Gallaty, age 72, of White Lake and formerly of Lake, was born June 28, 1951 in Pontiac and passed away October 17, 2023 in Commerce Township. Loving mother of Shane (Cathy) Gallaty and Autumn Smith. Proud grandmother of Edward (Jenni) Gallaty, David (Ashley) Gallaty, and Kelsey (Kurtis) Crosman. Treasured great-grandmother of Edward Gallaty II, and baby girl on the way. Dear sister of Sherry Peel and Mike (Debbie) Peel, and sister-in-law of Judy Peel, Marsha Bishop Sexton, and Sue Peel. Cherished stepdaughter of Gloria Peel. Doris will be missed by numerous other family members and friends. Doris was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, David Gallaty; her grandson, Gavyn Smith; her parents, George Peel and Florence Hemstreet; and her siblings, Gary Peel, Doyle (Mable) Peel, Elwin Peel, and Jackie Peel.

Doris was a remarkable woman who had a passion for painting and a fondness for treasure hunting at yard sales and thrift shops, often frequenting the dollar store. Alongside her husband, she was known as the A-team, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. Her close-knit circle of friends at Westlake were like family, and she proudly belonged to the Red Hat Mommas, sharing her love for bingo and her title as the snowball queen of Westlake.

Her heart overflowed with affection for her beloved pets, including Maddy the dog, Odie the ferret, and her feathered companions. Doris was an aficionado of coffee, chaos, and the occasional cuss word, with a penchant for smoking. Her feisty yet caring nature made her a true gem, known for her heart of gold and transparency in expressing her feelings. She found joy in watching Judge Judy and Dr. Phil, adored dangling earrings, sported long painted nails and hats, and adored her plain hamburgers.

Doris had a reputation for nabbing all the Keebler crackers at gatherings and was the life of parties and activities, delighting in spoiling both children and animals alike. She was always on the move, zipping around on her scooter, spreading her vibrant energy wherever she went.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 starting at 12:00pm at Hess-Hathaway Park, 825 S. Williams Lake Road, Waterford.
