Harold Phelps McConnell

Harold P. McConnell of Waterford, passed away June 29, 2021 at 89 years of age.

Beloved husband of Ethlyn for 68 years. Loving father of Daniel S. (Kerri) McConnell, Katherine M. (Richard) Russell, Andrew M. (Patti) McConnell and Susan L. (Roger) Plue. Proud grandfather of Marie (Tim) Walker, Mollie McConnell, Kristy Firchau, Ranae (Chris) Keckeisen, Elizabeth (Joe) Bologna, Sam (Rachel) Firchau, Andrea McConnell, Cody McConnell, Lauren (Scott) Leigh and Hannah Plue. Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Katherine (nee Wendelin) McConnell and one brother, Gary McConnell.

Harold was a very devoted Christian and member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He graduated from Valparaiso University where he received his degree in Civil Engineering. For many years, he worked for Boeing where he was living and traveling throughout the Great Plain states. He later joined Great Lakes Steel in Michigan. He loved camping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed deep sea scuba diving, the outdoors, traveling, golf and racquet ball. He was a very talented wood carver and built beautiful furniture along with remodeling many rooms and homes. He loved to stay busy and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Green Bay Packer fan. He excelled in whatever he set out to accomplish and will be truly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 7979 Commerce Road in West Bloomfield. Memorial Visitation will begin at 3:00pm, followed by the Memorial Sevice at 3:30pm.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands or the Alzheimer's Association.
