

Helen Virginia Macbeth, affectionately known as "Old Mud" to those nearest to her heart, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 93 in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Born on September 14, 1932, in Highland, Michigan, Helen was the cherished matriarch of her family and the last surviving sibling of the large and loving family of the late John and Regina Mager.
Helen was the beloved wife of the late Robert Macbeth, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1989. She was a devoted mother to John (Julie) Macbeth and the late Tom Macbeth. Her legacy continued through her grandchildren, Liz (George) Dekle, Anne (Markus) Jones, John (Missy) Bauman, Jeremy (Christin) Macbeth, and Joshua (Charise Higgins) Macbeth. Helen was also a proud great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by countless loving family members and friends who were blessed to know her warmth and kindness.
A wonderful homemaker, Helen's life was a testament to her love for her family and her faith. Her home was a hub of activity and comfort, filled with the aroma of her cooking and the beauty of her garden. Helen and her husband Bob built their home in White lake themselves in 1950. She found joy in tending to her fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and her canning skills were second to none. Helen was well-known for her delicious cookies and fruit cakes, which were always a highlight at family gatherings.
An avid Elvis fan, Helen's musical tastes were a beloved part of her identity, and her interests extended to being a faithful viewer of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, where her quick wit and knowledge often shone. Helen's commitment to her Christian faith was evident in her over 40 years of membership at "The Open Door Outreach Center". Her faith-filled life was characterized by her desire to help others, a trait that endeared her to all who knew her.
Helen's character was the epitome of loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful. Her presence brought comfort and a sense of home to many, and her guidance was sought after and cherished. She was a beacon of faith and love in her community, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.

Helen’s family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of her funeral service 12:00 Noon at the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home located at 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386.
Interment will take place in Highland Hills Cemetery in Highland, Michigan.
Memorial contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
