Juanita Marie Dorricott

Juanita was born to Frank and Juanita Killian in Doylestown, Ohio, and was one of six siblings. Juanita fondly recalled her childhood and her days at Doylestown High School, where she graduated valedictorian. In addition to her scholarly aptitude, Juanita's dream was to have a family, which was realized in 1954 when she married Jack Dorricott and together raised a family of five kids in Ohio,and later Michigan.

She was a model homemaker, sewing matching outfits for all of her children, supporting her husband in his career, and participating as an active member of the Kent Junior Mother's Club. Later in life, Juanita took a job as an ophthalmic technician, which she greatly enjoyed. Juanita's most cherished role was that of Grammie to 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Juanita was famous for her swiss steak and holiday cookies, her contagious laugh, her warm hugs, and her eternal optimism. Juanita loved her lemon yellow Florida house, the color pink, flip flops, family, food, and friendships she maintained from childhood. Juanita will be remembered as a wonderful sister, devoted wife, selfless mother, fun-loving grandmother, and true friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her younger brother Fred, and two sons-in-law, Mark and Charlie. She will be incredibly missed and remembered by her siblings Francis, Kathleen (Jim), Joseph (Cindy),and Michael, her children, Kathryn (Charlie), Tom, Jill, Jane (Mark) and Nita (Bob), her grandkids Emily (Patrick), Jillian (Trent), Trevor, Katie (Griffin), Cole, Samantha, Hannah (RJ), Alex, her great-grandchildren -- Olivia, Braden, Jack, Jay, Ryann, Emerson, Luca, and several nieces and nephews, all of who she loved dearly.

Juanita will be honored in a private service for family and close friends in Michigan -- for those unable to attend, a celebration of life in Ohio will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that contributions be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Susan G. Komen.
