

Lori Ann Marks, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, 2025, at her hometown in Waterford, Michigan. Born on July 17, 1962, Lori's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of kindness that touched everyone she met. Her radiant smile and warm heart will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lori was the cherished mother of Jenna Pooley-Watkins and her husband Justin, she was the loving mother of the late Joshua and Derrick Pooley. Proud daughter of Loretta Hall and the late Vernon Hughes. Treasured sister of Michael Hughes, Jacqueline Hall-Weisman and Suzanne Hughes. Sadly she is preceded in death by her siblings, Deborah Oesterling, Ernest Hughes, Jesse Hughes and Vernon "Eddie" Hughes, Jr.
Professionally, Lori retired from her role as a clerk at Oakland County, where her dedication and hard work were so valued that she continued to assist during the bustling summer and tax seasons. Her colleagues remember her as not just a co-worker but a friend who brought light and laughter into the workplace.
Lori's interests were as vibrant and diverse as her personality. A passionate traveler, she relished her trips to Cancun and Florida, and fondly recalled the cruise to Alaska she took with her mother and sister. Her love for the outdoors was apparent in her enjoyment of camping and boating. Lori lived her life to the fullest, whether she was at a concert rocking out to classic rock or calling out BINGO numbers with an infectious enthusiasm.
In her personal life, Lori was the embodiment of love and kindness. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. Her presence was a comfort and a joy to those around her, and her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire.
As we reflect on Lori's life, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Lori's love has indeed become a part of us, and her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
Lori Ann Marks will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, daughter, and friend. Though she has left this earthly realm, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she loved.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm.
