Bob was a devoted family man, proud Army veteran, hardworking business owner and an unforgettable character known for his towering height and booming voice.
Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he met and married his beloved “Sunflower” Pat. Together they raised five wonderful children. During these growing years, he owned and operated an antenna installation business and later a power washing company, always taking pride in honest work-done right. Known as a skilled handyman, Bob could fix just about anything. He truly loved to tinker-whether it was repairing, building, or simply figuring out how something worked.
In earlier years, he treasured his time with the family while living on Oxbow Lake. His mornings began with a hot cup of coffee and a quiet moment overlooking the lake before starting the days work.
One of Bobs favorite places on earth was his home in Twining, Michigan where he loved being surrounded by forty acres of nature and wildlife. He often asked his kids, “When are we going North?” The property brought him comfort and peace, a place overflowing with many family memories.
Bob had a quick wit about him, a kind smile and a warm hug to share. He loved his coffee and never turned down a good meal, or snack, or candy etc. He enjoyed watching Western movies, especially those featuring John Wayne. He also had a soft heart towards animals, where cats and dogs indeed found a friend in Bob.
Bobs greatest legacy would be his love of family. Bob was a wonderful Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa,
Father-in-law and Friend. He was always there to lend a hand, share advice or simply spend time together.
Bob also shared a special bond with his former caregiver of many years, his “Sweet Julia.”
The family would like to thank Jeff and Jenny and the staff at Elder Ridge Manor in Stockbridge for the care Bob received there the last 5 years. Bob enjoyed his time there, visiting with friends and staff, helping in the garden and eating the cherry tomatoes as fast as he picked them.
He is the beloved husband of the late, Patricia; loving father of April (Walter) Warren, Galen (Joyce Keerl) Pond, Kelan (Kendra) Pond, Aaron (Janelle) Pond and Adele Pond; precious grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 17, one of which is in heaven.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Union lake Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Rd., White Lake, MI 48386. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be in Oxbow Lake Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Army.
