She was born Alma Louise Standley on January 25, 1922 in Larned, Kansas to Virgil and Mahala Standley.
She graduated from East High School in Wichita with the class of 1941. She was united in marriage to Raymond Ellerman on June 1, 1941. They had 3 children Edward E., Carolyn R., and Dennis L.
Alma worked as a drapery maker for the Sears & Roebuck Co. of Wichita. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church until its closing, she is now a member of First United Methodist Church in Wichita. She enjoyed a lifetime of volunteer service with Girl Scouts, P.T.A., Trinity United Methodist Women's Church Circle, Red Cross of Wichita, and worked at the election polls.
Preceding Alma in death are her parents and her husband Raymond of seventy-five years, son Edward, siblings Lettie Edwards, Jewell Simmons, and Virgil L Standley. She is also preceded in death by two grandsons Danny Ellerman and Austin Wood.
Surviving family members include her children Carolyn Bishop and Dennis Ellerman and his wife Claudia, siblings Terry Gorski (Richard) and Toni Standley-Bromley. Surviving grandchildren are Brian Ellerman, Jennifer Treat (Ron), Bianca Huschka (Clint), Kim Bishop, Mike Bishop (Ashlie), Suzie Bishop, Ray Poole (Kim), and Terrie Applewhite (Kent). Also surviving are 22 great-grandchildren,16 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 W. 13th Street N in Wichita. Burial will follow in Wichita Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
