

Clayton A Bailey Sr., 88 passed away March 31, 2014 in Wichita, KS. He was born in McPherson County, KS near Inman, KS. He lived in several towns in the area before his family moved to Wichita in 1941 where he attended North High School. He enlisted in the Army in July 1943 where he served in the 82nd airborne division. After being wounded in Holland in 1944 he returned home and married his “girl next door”, Mathilda Loepp, on January 1, 1945. After several jobs he settled on his career as an insurance agent. He retired from that field in 1996 and began driving a school bus for USD 259. He retired a second time at the age of 82 to care for his wife. Clayton is preceded in death by his wife, “Tillie”; son, Clayton “Clay” Bailey Jr., brother, Laurel Bailey; sister, Garnita Chuculate. Survived by sons, Rob Bailey of Wichita, Tony and wife Maureen Bailey of Clearwater, KS; daughter, Kathy Garcia of Wichita, grandchildren, Dawn Bailey of Sacramento, CA, Adam (Stephany) Bailey, Derrick (Karrie) Bailey, Shannon (Fiancé Louis Love) Garcia, Mark Bailey and Timothy (Ashley) Garcia all of Wichita, 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation 9a.m. -8p.m. family present from 6-8p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014. Funeral Service 10a.m. Friday April 4, 2014 all at Hillside Funeral Home West, 2929 W. 13th St. Wichita, KS 67203.
