She was born Janice E. Bliss on January 26, 1948, the daughter of Dale and Jeanne (Shelton) Bliss. She grew up in Maize, KS and graduated with the High School Class of 1966. She married Charles Cravens in 1967.
On June 30, 1989, she was united in marriage to Paul Dow in Wichita.
Janice worked proudly as a nurse at ARCK in Wichita. Janice loved working at the Sedgwick County Zoo after she retired from ARCK, she loved making handmade greeting cards, crocheting baby afghans, She is a big Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Preceding Janice in death were her parents, her son Charles Cravens, and brother Robert Bliss.
Surviving family members include her husband Paul of their home in Wichita, sons Carl Cravens and his wife Karen of Voorhees, NJ, Donald Cravens and his wife Shari of Sausalito, CA, and David Cravens (Maranda) of Wichita. She is also survived by two brothers Steve Bliss and his wife Kelley of Arkansas City, KS, and Michael Bliss of Maize, KS. Surviving grandchildren are Alyssa White, Emma Croiser, and Emily Moth.
There will be a visitation time with Janice’s family on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 W. 13th Street N, Wichita, KS.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Hillside Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made in Janice’s name to either Compassionate Friends of Wichita, or The Sedgwick County Zoo-Education Department.
