I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mom and dad were in the pastorate in Douglass, KS when I first moved to town in 1969. I think I remember you kids were very small back then, and your mom and dad were also very young. I see now your mom was only 8 yrs. older than me and I would have been 23 then.

You all weren't in Douglass long after your dad talked me into being the choir director, something I didn't know I could do and ended up serving in that capacity for 10 yrs enjoying every minute of it. I had never been a Methodist but stayed in that denomination for over 35 years. 
I joined the church having just married  Don Rucker. He passed away in 1996 and I then married a man from the same church who had never married, Robert Kittle. We still reside in the country west and south of Douglass. Robert's mother, June, is still living at age 90 and resides in  a nursing facility in Augusta. She would have remembered you all I'm sure. 
May God comfort you as you continue your journey of life knowing that your parents were instrumental in changing my life forever.

Joy Findley was my best friend.  We met in first grade and both graduated from the University of  
Arkansas.  Joy went to Dallas, Tex to seek a job and I followed later and shared an apartment with her.
We both had blind dates to an A&M football game.  There is where she met Wayne Findley and later became his wife.  They moved to Kansas where some of my family lives, so we were able to remain friends.  Later they moved to Dallas where Wayne went to seminary and became a Methodist minister.  They returned to Kansas and Joy and I could still see each other.  I do miss her and several times lately I have thought I need to call Joy and then I remember, Joy has died.

I taught school at Vermillion Elementary in Maize with Joy. When she heard we were moving to Hutch she came to my Kindergarten room to invite me to visit Hutchinson 1st UMC. I never went anywhere else. Thanks to Wayne and Joy I raised my three boys at Hutch 1st, and I still am very active there. Joy was the reason I started and the reason I stayed. She was a wonderful mentor to me and my children. She will be missed.

I send condolences to the family, especially Kevin and Lisa. In my brief years at University UMC, Wayne and Joy were kind supporters, and I cherish that very much. Her journey was guided by a loving God and she is honored for her service.

Joy Findley was a childhood friend of mine.  We met in first grade and remained friends until her recent death.
I just talked to her a few days ago about the article I read where some parents want to replace school counselors with chaplains.
I was also a  school counselor and we agreed that as counselors we were doing a good job in helping students.
John was so smart and especially in math.  I was in her algebra class and she always set the curve as I struggled.
We learned to play bridge, become roommates in Texas and remember the day she met Wayne.
Joy, I will miss you.....your smile, your brightness, your wisdom, and just being who you were.

Joy was a member of our Water Aerobics group at the North Y. We all loved Joy. She was a wonderful person who loved to talk politics and was always up to date on the latest news. She was very loyal to our class would ask about people if they were not there, She will be missed by many!

Joy was simply the best. She cared for all people; her neighbors (I was lucky to be a neighbor), her church friends, her YMCA friends, and anyone new who crossed her path. She never hesitated to call a friend in need or legislator who needed educating. We loved our monthly ‘swim group’ lunches, catching up on all the news. She will be missed, but always remembered.

Joy was a good friend and neighbor. Willing to share her home and knowledge. We would  get  together to play games. Cards, Mexican Train dominos. and our Favorite Rummikub.  Joy was the first to visit me and leave her phone number, in case I needed help. Shortly after I moved into the neighborhood. Whenever Joy was  in the yard or walking / driving to the mailbox, she would always take the time to visit. Joy lived her faith by example.   Joy is greatly missed. 
Sincere sympathy to all whom she loved, and all who loved her.
