Lela Francis Kraft was born on September 13, 1924 in Jetmore, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Esther (Becker) Kraft. She was 13 years old when her family moved to Wichita. She attended Wichita East High School and graduated with the class of 1942.
On December 5, 1942, Lela was united in marriage to Richard Wentz in Wichita. They were able to fulfill their dream of a family when they adopted their children David, Sandra, and Doug. They were such an important part of their lives.
Lela was a homemaker and enjoyed being at home and able to raise their children. She was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook, and loved her time spent in the garden. She was active in church activities, and loved the time spent with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, and their son David Wentz. She is also preceded in death by her twin brother Leland Kraft and brother Orville Kraft.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Sandra Benafield and husband Tom of Houston, TX, and Doug Wentz and wife Twila of Grand Junction, CO. Grandchildren; Josh DiGuglielmo, Ryan DiGuglielmo, Cody Wentz, Cory Wentz, and Courtney Wentz. Great-grandchildren Adrianna DiGuglielmo, Angelo DiGuglielmo, Sofia DiGuglielmo, and Gabriel Wentz. Also surviving are her siblings Emma Lee Hess of Wichita, and Vernon Kraft of Tucson, AZ.
