

Leonard James Vaughn, 81, died peacefully on, August 21st, in his home in Wichita, Kansas. Leonard and his twin brother, Leo, were born October 16, 1938 to Harvey & Matilda (Tudor) Vaughn in Mankato, KS. The Vaughns lived in Stockton, KS., until moving to Topeka in 1948. Leonard graduated in 1957 from Highland Park High School. Leonard met Sharon A. Williams, from Clay Center, KS., through mutual friends. They were married on September 2, 1967 in Topeka, KS.
Leonard started his career in the automotive industry at age 14, working on tractors at an implement company after school. Leonard served three years in the Kansas National Guard as an airframe repairman. While working at Mosby-Mack Motor Company, after completing his training, at age 18, Leonard was the youngest line mechanic in Kansas at that time. His expertise allowed him to become a shop foreman, and onto service manager at numerous dealerships throughout his career. Besides working on cars, Leonard enjoyed home improvement projects. With his skill, he undertook anything from painting a room to building a house.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David, Marvin & Leo Vaughn. He is survived by Sharon, his wife of 53 years; children, Jeff (Jaime) of Calabasas, Ca., Sonia Vaughn of Wichita, Jason Vaughn of Wichita; grandchildren, Carmen Vaughn (Jason), Grace Vaughn (Jason), Dillon Vaughn (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Henry Vaughn (Carmen) and Presley Terrill (Carmen). Leonard’s celebration of life will be held at a later date.
