Bob passed on to glory, peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2025. He was born on January 5, 1939 to Neal and MJ Mueller and was preceded in death by both of them, and his sister Bev. Bob is survived by his wife Carolee and leaves a family legacy of 2 children and their spouses, four grandchildren and their spouses, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Growing up, Bob attended grade school at Fairmont and Isely Elementary Schools in Wichita. His family moved to the Kansas City area where he attended Central Junior High and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, Bob enlisted in the US Navy.
Bob’s career began in the United States Navy where he was aboard a heavy cruiser and then later assigned to the fire crew on the island of Kwajalein. After his service with the USN, Bob returned to Wichita, where he met his wife Carolee. They were married in 1962 and celebrated over 63 years of marriage. Bob graduated to retirement from a 35 year career with Beech Aircraft (Raytheon Textron) working in nearly every department.
During those career years, Bob volunteered, giving of his time to local organizations. He served as a Scout Master and Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 608, where he helped his son and others find the joy of hunting, fishing, and camping in God’s beautiful creation. He was an usher at First Church of God/Central Community Church of God for over 60 years, served on the church council for two terms and even sang in the choir.
Following retirement, Bob and Carolee enjoyed traveling with friends. He and Carolee have been to 6 of the 7 continents, and visited more than 30 different countries. He has been across the equator multiple times including on 2 continents.
Bob was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but most of all, he was a follower and believer in his Lord Jesus Christ. He actively participated in small group bible study and adult Sunday school at his church. Giving is one of the things he enjoyed doing, whether to the church, his family, or a person in need. There was never a person he couldn’t become friends with.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 1:30 PM in the chapel at Central Community Church, located at 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita, KS 67209.
