

Rosalie Helen Peavey, 78, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on September 12, 2025. She was born on October 27, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas, to Tirso and Helen Ortiz.
As a young woman, Rosalie married the love of her life, John Lewis Peavey, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing. Together they raised a family grounded in faith, laughter, and love. Rosalie dedicated her career to serving others as a nutritionist at the Sedgwick County Extension Office. Beyond her professional work, she lived a life marked by generosity. She was known for her kind heart, welcoming spirit, and the way she loved people with the same compassion as Jesus. She enjoyed going to Mass, playing with her “Greats,” garage sales, football, K-State, music, gifting treasures to others, cooking for her family, especially her famous enchiladas, visiting the casino, spending time with her siblings, and caring for anyone in need.
Rosalie is survived by her siblings, Tirso “Junior” (Geneva) Ortiz, Juanita (Churchel) Pruett, and John (Pamela) Ortiz, as well as her children, Ronnie (Payton) Peavey, Crystal (Vince) Motte, and Cynthia (Ryan) Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Peavey; her son, Dean Peavey; and her siblings, Martin (Linda) Ortiz, Manuel Ortiz, Albert (Lucille) Ortiz, Lupe (Bill) White, Mary (Johnny) Terronez, Manuel “Tommy” (Rosella “Tiny”) Ortiz, Gloria (Rudy) Llamas, Betty (Ray) Garcia, Margaret (Marion) Huey, Robert “Bob” (Jeanine) Ortiz, and Nellie Ann “Bobalou” (Mike) Guoladdle.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ryan Peavey, Thomas Peavey, Nashae Peavey, Morgan Parcus, Brianna (Rob) Deas, Candice (Brett) Steven, Jada (Erika) Reyes, Ronald Reyes Jr., Kylee Motte, Samantha Peavey, Andis Crow, Augest Peavey, Trey Marsh, and Breland Miller; and through her great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly called her “Greats”: Ava Peavey, Lindsey Byers, Audrey Deas, Lincoln Deas, Sophia Deas, Brett Steven Jr., Logan Steven, Mack Steven, Ronald Reyes III, Sa’Meriah, Hasina, Hezekiah, Hajari, and Jahmaz.
Rosalie carried a fullness of life that touched everyone blessed to know her. She will be remembered as a devout Catholic and extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose unwavering love reflected the heart of God.
A prayer service for Rosalie will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 7:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Home West, 2929 West 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67203. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2801 S Seneca St, Wichita, Kansas 67217.
