Ruth E. Norvell

Norvell, Ruth. E., age 98, was born December 3, 1916 in Winfield, Kansas to to George and Mary McQuiston. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 17, 2015. She worked as a Secretary for Keebler’s for a few years. She was an avid bicycler, riding throughout Wichita until age 85, and was involved in her church helping in the library. Ruth was also an active member of Keenagers, a social group for seniors at Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded by her first husband Thomas J. Gann, who passed away in 1943, her second husband Donald R. Norvell, who passed away in 2014; son Thomas Gann; grandson Christopher Gann, and is survived by daughter Delores (Joseph) Catron; daughter-in-law Leslie Gann; grandsons Jeremy Catron, Joseph Catron and James Gann; five great-grandchildren Jackson, Madison, Jeremy, Jaden Catron and Alexis Sims; one great-grandson (baby Gann) who is yet to be born. Visitation 5:00–7:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at Hillside Funeral Home West, 2929 W. 13th St. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 South Topeka Ave. in Wichita. Burial 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Kellogg Township, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial to “Greater Things” c/o Immanuel Baptist Church.
