Steven was born July 7, 1948 in Wichita, the son of Francis A. and Beva (Hensted) Baert. He grew up in Wichita and attended West High School. After graduation, he began working for the City of Wichita in Street Maintenance, a job he would do proudly for 30 years. After retirement, he began working for the Kansas Department of Transportation, where he worked for fourteen years.
Steven was united in marriage to Diann Crandell, on April 23, 1967 in Wichita at a friend’s home.
In his time off, Steven enjoyed watching TV, particularly NASCAR racing. In his early years he enjoyed watching his kids sporting events and lately, taking his grandchildren to the Zoo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Diann, and 2 sisters Cheryl Adame and Sandy Baert.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Beva Kerstine of Wichita, KS, Billy Baert of Lansing, KS, and David Baert and his significant other Barbara Weiss of Colorado Springs, CO., and 1 brother Kim Baert and his wife Tammy of Wichita. Steven is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Courtney Baert, Zachary Baert, Taylor Kerstine, Ashley Baert, Serinsey Baert, Cerinity Baert, Storm Baert, Slade Baert, Stone Baert, Cerinity Baert, and Jamie Baert. 6 Great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Jeslyn, Madox, Sophia, Brandon, Aidden, Nevaeh, and Bella.
