A celebration of life of Gary Staudt will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday February 24, 2021 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. Fr. Vincent Nguyen will be officiating the funeral mass with internment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Park East Funeral Home.
Gary passed away and went home to the Lord on February 10, 2021, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Gary was born November 26, 1939 in Queens Borough New York to Jack and Dorothy Staudt and spent his earlier years in Amityville, New York. Gary leaves behind the love of his life, Anita who he married on June 9, 1957. They had over 63 years of loving friendship and joy with each other and their family. Gary & Anita spent much of their time with Marriage Encounter helping other couples prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage.
Gary leaves behind his loving legacy in his four children who include his son Greg Staudt of Houston, Texas; his daughter Diana Coleman; his daughter Nancy Beardon and her husband Billy; his son Gary and his wife Lana, all of League City, Texas. Gary also leaves behind his loving and cherished grandchildren Michael Coleman and his wife Christina of Mt. Belvieu, Texas; Eryn Crouchet and her husband Lionel; Carey Jackson and her husband Cameron; Stacey Jones and her husband Brandon all of League City, Texas; Tabitha Fiegel of Galveston, Texas, and Jared Fiegel and his wife Allie of Baytown, Texas. Gary had great joy in spending his retirement time with his loving and caring great grandchildren Michael, Carlee, Nathaniel, Catie, Mikayla, Isabella, Casey, Caroline, Madilynn, and Hunter.
Gary was employed with Grumman Aerospace Corporation in New York and in 1965 he was selected to work on the Apollo Program which brought him and his family to League City Texas. While working on the Apollo Program, he was a recipient of the Silver Snoopy Award with his work on the Apollo Lunar Module/Lunar Excursion Module (LEM). At the end of the Apollo Program, he worked for HL&P/CenterPoint Energy where he worked at the South Texas Nuclear Project during construction and after completion he transferred to headquarters where he retired.
During his retirement, Gary enjoyed teaching everyone who he met about the Apollo Program, Nuclear Energy, and his savior Jesus Christ. He was a long-standing member of St. Clare Catholic Church since the beginning of the parish and was very active and served his parish family in many roles.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of blood to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
