It is with great sadness we announce Bob’s peaceful passing on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the age of 62. Beloved husband and best friend of Adriana Rucinque. Survived by his children Alexander and Elise Shannon. Loving son of Priscilla “Pat” and the late James “Jim” Shannon. Dear brother of Brian (Jo Anne) Shannon and Lynne Shannon. Remembered fondly by his step-daughters Nathalia (Adriana’s daughter) and Meagan. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and many friends.
Bob was a caring man, a loving father and an amazing friend. His love and passion for everything he did was infectious to all who surrounded him throughout his life and career as a civil engineer. As a young man, Bob could rarely sit still. After graduating from the University of Waterloo he spent his time travelling the globe and his love for travel continued throughout the rest of his life. Bob was a determined person with many personal accomplishments such as being elected to the city council for St Patrick’s ward as its youngest member to that date as well as using his position as an environmental engineer to beautify the city. His contributions as the lead engineer to the Henley Island rowing course project in Port Dalhousie were instrumental in bringing the 1999 World Rowing Championship to the city. After retiring, Bob was most at peace when with his family, watching the Buffalo Bills or up on his property in Bon Echo. He also had a love for photography and dancing, where he would eventually come to meet Adriana. He will forever be missed by all those who loved him. May his soul be at peace.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. A Graveside service will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. To comply with Covid 19 restrictions, all guests must book an appointment time by calling 905-684-6346 during business hours, register upon arrival and wear a mask in the funeral home. Please remain in your vehicle until a member of the staff instructs you into the building.
