Donald “Don” DeCaire, formerly of Grand Blanc MI, was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who passed on from this world Friday, June 11, 2021 at the age of 82 ½ at hospice in Longmont, CO.
Don met his wife, Kay, on a blind date arranged through mutual friends. Together they had one child, Lisa. Always up for an experience, Don and Kay moved to Colorado a few years ago to be closer to their only grandson. Until the very end, Don’s face lit up with the biggest smile when Keller entered the room. He was so proud to be a Grandpa.
Don served our country for two years in the Army. Valuing education, he went on to graduate from Northern Michigan University. He was employed at General Motors in Flint and retired after 37 years. For many years Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus and heavily involved in volunteer roles at Holy Family Parish in Grand Blanc. He loved walking and swimming for exercise and hobby. Don was a natural and curious conversationalist. He was always at the ready with a “how are you doing” or a “take care.”
A memorial service will take place at a future date. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to TRU Community Care Hospice Center (trucare.org) in Donald DeCaire’s name.
