John S. Kimberley, 78, of East Hartford, loving husband of 54 years of Lucy (Kaminski) Kimberley, peacefully journeyed home to join his late parents in Heaven on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Cambridge, MA on February 5, 1943, a son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Robinson) Kimberley, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1974. John was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War where he served on the USS Muliphen. John was employed as an Electrician for over 28 years by Combustion Engineering in Windsor. John was a talented hard working individual who did several renovations and remodeled his own home. As a former Boy Scout and Eagle Scout, John would always be willing to help others with various projects. He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins who enjoyed attending their games with his father. John loved traveling with his wife and vacationing in the Bahamas and other islands with family and friends. He also liked playing cribbage and visiting the local casinos. Most of all, John was a devoted husband and father who was a proud grandfather who always found time to play with and support his grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Lucy, John is survived by his two caring daughters, Christine Morelli and her husband Michael of Glastonbury, Carol Hendzel and her husband Mark of East Hartford; his sister, Kathleen DiStefano and her husband James of Watertown, MA; a sister-in-law, Helen Chrostowski of Newington; four adored grandchildren, Justin Kvadas of East Hartford, Kayla Morelli of Glastonbury, Julie Morelli of Glastonbury, Alexis Kvadas of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral service celebrating John’s life will be Friday (July 23, 2021) at 11 am at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Field #2-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday morning from 10–11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
