Grandpa was born October 7th, 1927 Lares, Puerto Rico. He was the youngest of 8 children to Ramon Rodriguez-Millian and Juana Rivera Cardona.
In 1945, at the age of 18, Grandpa arrived in New York City with his Mom and several brothers and sisters. All were Christians and were ready to be part of the American dream and continue their Faith.
They quickly started to attend a Pentecostal Church in Brooklyn New York led by pastor Rev Francisco Vazquez.
There Grandpa met the love of his life Edith Vazquez, the pastor’s daughter. They married on Jun 4, 1949. God blessed them with their first child Edith Rodriguez, aka Vickie, in 1950 followed by Raymond Rodriguez, both were both in Brooklyn.
In 1952 my Grandparents moved from Brooklyn to Chicago, Illinois where again God blessed them with two more children, Samuel and Ezekiel Rodriguez.
As adventurers exploring the country, they moved the family to Los Angeles in 1959. And again God blessed them with their last beautiful children, James and Deborah Rodriguez.
As a young man, Grandpa always felt the calling to serve in the Lord’s ministry. With that desire in mind Grandpa began by teaching himself to play the guitar, piano and drums while studying the word of God. With his musical talents, he and his wife Grandma, learned to be active in church by leading the services and singing duets.
In 1952, with the grace of God and by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, God helped Grandpa pioneer four churches in Chicago, IL and two in Los Angeles, CA under the ministry of “la Iglesias Pentecostal de Jesucristo”.
In 1973 Grandpa planted roots here in Orlando, FL. He joined the Church of God East Orlando until he felt God’s calling and began a Spanish speaking ministry.
In the continuation of his calling he assisted in the church plant of Bethel which he attended from 1985 – 2015 later retiring from the ministry as a deacon.
For 64 years Grandpa was faithful and committed to the calling of God and in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The greatest memories I have of Grandpa are that he was hard hardworking and a loving husband and father.
Thank you, Grandpa, for we could not ask for a better role model. God Bless!
