Cecilia Horton, 95, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on January 9, 2021. She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin in June, 1925 to Walter and Cecilia Agnes Ramer and married Donald Lloyd Horton in La Crosse in 1951.
They shared 51 years together until his death in 2002. As an Air Force wife, Cecilia moved frequently with Donald to new base assignments, with family in tow as their children began to arrive. When Don retired from the Air Force in 1967, the family moved to Harlingen, where Don and Ceil would live permanently.
They had five children, all of whom survive Cecilia: John Horton and wife Roberta of Seguin, Thomas Horton of Pasadena, Kathleen Wolf and husband Steve of La Feria, Joseph Horton and wife Maria of Harlingen and Mary Frances Sesler and husband Rob of Harlingen.
She loved her children unconditionally, but her grandchildren brought a special kind of joy to her life. Each has fond memories of spending time with Grandma: Christopher Horton and wife Yuko, of Nagoya, Japan; Greg Horton and partner, Christine Morris of Harlingen; Emily Horton of Tacoma, Washington; Trevor Horton of Harlingen; Kelly Casarez and husband Sean of La Feria; Kate Wolf Alexander and husband Dan of Austin, Texas; Hannah Wolf of Bend, Oregon; and Matthew Sesler, Harlingen. She also had three adorable great-grandchildren and one on the way, but distance kept her from visiting with her three great-grandchildren in person, something she lamented often.
Cecilia enjoyed a long life and was independent even into her very late years. Her love did not end with her passing; it will live on in her children and their children, a legacy of the greatest impact.
