Born July 15, 1944 in Sydney, Cape Breton, NS. Lovingly raised in Toronto. Died Oct 16, 2021 in Toronto.
Beloved husband of Andrea, proud Father of Jackson (Kim) and Anika (Tim), and joyful Grandpa of Bethany, Alyssa, and Samantha.
Brother of Vivian, Bernadette (Ted), Julia (Rob).
Predeceased by his parents Paul and Vivian and Sister Pauline (Michael).
Attended St Peter’s and St. Mike’s in Toronto. A graduate of St. Francis Xavier University (B.A.) in Antigonish, N.S. and University of Alberta (M.A.), Edmonton , A.B.
Larry was a teacher and an entrepreneur. Assistant Professor (Psychology) at University of Natal, South Africa. Lecturer at Ryerson Institute of Technology, Toronto. Taught History at De La Salle College, Toronto.
English and Computer Studies at Adult Learning Centre, Toronto. English and Math at Marc Garneau Collegiate, Toronto, where he shared his love of Shakespeare.
In retirement Larry was a volunteer English Skills Teacher with Bridges for Education in Hungary, Bulgaria and Siberia, Russia.
He was passionate about Canadian politics, world affairs and the history of the world and he was an avid world traveler.
He devoured the written word, and enjoyed music, art and live theatre. A sports enthusiast and sportsman, playing hockey and tennis .
Long time member of St. Mike’s Oldtimers Hockey Club. Current member Friday morning Hockey at Ted Reeve Arena. Played in the Busters Cup for many years. Larry participated in international hockey tournaments in the U.K., Spain and Florida
Long standing member of Kew Gardens Tennis Club, more recent member Mayfair (Lakeshore)Tennis Club and Dentonia Tennis club. Larry was an ITF member competing in Spain and Canada.
A.K.A. Leaping Larry, Larry/Jerry and Cowboy. Larry touched many people with his humour, thoughtfulness and intelligence. He was eager to travel again when it was safe to do so. Wherever we go, whatever we do, he will be in our hearts forever.
