It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannie on Good Friday, April 5th, 2023.
Born in Dublin Ireland to Jack and Irene Sheridan, Jean was the middle of three children (Brian, Jean, and Ann). She moved with her family to Montreal at the age of 16. After Jeannie had married, she moved with her husband Peter and her children to Paris, France. For several years, she entertained corporate big wigs, and politicians, and made lifelong friends. She guided her children throughout Europe and introduced them to all of the cultural and historical landmarks that could be fit into any specific day. Jeannie had one more child (Peter Jr) before the family moved back to Canada...first to Calgary, then finally settling down in Vancouver BC.
Jeannie always felt that Vancouver was her true home. She forged lifelong friendships and spent many hours, dinners, weekends, vacations, and bottles of wine with folk that were still with her to the end.
After a few more years of raising the family, Jeannie re-entered the workforce full-time and found her 2nd home at the Canada Pavilion at Expo in '86, and eventually finished her career when she retired from the CanPav Corporation at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre in 2013.
Jeannie discovered running in her late 40's and it became her passion. She completed and placed in many races from 5km to 60+km, and finished 10 marathons including Boston, and a return home to the Dublin marathon where she retraced her roots along with her sister, Ann. Her sense of adventure for self-propelled long distance travel, culminated when she was in her 70's when she walked the entire 800km Camino de Santiago trail in the Pyrenees.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Irene, as well as her brother Brian, her husband Peter, and her son Stephen. She is survived by her sister Ann, her 4 Children, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren
A service and reception will be held at the Boal Chapel (1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver) from 2:00pm-5:00 pm, on Saturday September 23, 2023.
