

It is with a heavy heart and eyes filled with tears that we announce the passing of Frances B. Darling, 87. "Fran", as she preferred to be called, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, in her sleep.
Fran was born and raised in Phoenix and graduated from West High School (now Metro Tech High School). She also completed 2 years at the University of Arizona before getting married.
Fran retired from the Arizona House of Representatives as an administrative assistant. She loved what she did and enjoyed the people she worked with.
Fran had various hobbies and interests. She loved gardening, especially her roses and sweet peas, and was a member of the American Rose Society (Phoenix Chapter). She had a green thumb and could grow anything. When she couldn’t garden anymore, she took up watercolor painting,which she flourished at, creating beautiful landscapes and portrait paintings.
She will be remembered for her sparkling smile and her welcoming demeanor. She always had a kind word to say to everybody and was always willing to help those in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Darling, her parents James and Fannie (Mam Maw) Bone, and her sister Catherine Prairie. She is survived by her two sons Lane Darling and Rick Darling, granddaughters Stacey Carlson and Christine Darling, and two great-grandchildren Ryann Carlson and Jackson Carlson.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery located at 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix, AZ. 85009.
