Robert Sullivan Albright died at the age of 93 on January 3, 2010. He is survived by his sister, Clare, as well as his 3 children, Robert H. Albright (Anita), of Bremerton,Washington; Jan M. Haroldson ( Dave) of Vancouver, Washington; Susan Maxwell (Jay) of Camano Island, Washington. He has 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was born 19 June 1916 in Seattle, Washington and was one of four children born to William Sullivan "Curly" Albright of Topeka, KS and Minnie "Ruth" Downing of Bryant, IL. He married Mary Adelaide Hayes and moved to Yakima, Washington where they bought a small drive-in diner and began their lives together as small business entrepreneurs. While in Yakima, their first two children were born: a son Robert H and a daughter Jan M. In 1951 they sold the business and Robert and Mary moved back to Seattle. In 1954, their 3rd child, Susan Mary, was born. Robert was an active restaurateur in Seattle, operating Bennett's Cafe (later remodeled as Robbie's Restaurant), as well as The Golden Door on 4th Ave South. His outgoing and witty personality was well-suited to his profession and he would often relate tales from his travels, much to the delight of his audience. In conjunction with the restaurant business, he also worked as an independent truck driver running both West Coast short hauls as well as long hauls to the Midwest and East Coast. He later started up his own trucking business which turned into a family enterprise, and eventually ended with a fleet of approximately 20 trucks.Robert lost his wife, Mary in 1991, and retired from trucking in the late 1990s. Even after retiring, he remained an active traveler, visiting his family along the I-5 corridor, Mexico, and New Mexico.He will be missed by his grandchildren: Evan Albright of Portland, Oregon; Bryan Albright of Seattle, Washington; Jeannette Altman and Rebecca Okinczyc Kuehl, both of Vancouver, Washington; and Molly Cole of Long Beach California. He very much looked forward to visiting with his great-grandchildren, ranging in ages from 19 - 17 months: Ariel, Abigail, Ruby, Porter, and Isabella.
