Charles Michael Flores

Charles loved concerts and music of the 80's, especially Prince, he was an excellent barbecue Grill Master, he also enjoyed tailgating and hosting friends during the Michigan Wolverine football games. He proudly loved his mother Dolores with all his heart. Spending time with friends and family and spoiling his beloved grandchildren brought him joy. Charles and his friend Raymond were planning on starting a cooking blog named "Chopping it Up with Cha'lay". He collected comic books, Star Wars and University of Michigan memorabilia.

Charles graduated from Everett High School in Lansing, Michigan in 1988. At the age of 17, he joined the ROTC as a cadet and served for 2 years. Upon completion he transitioned into the Michigan Army National Guard, where he was a Petroleum Supply Specialist for 3 years. Choosing to continue his service to his country he enlisted into the United States Army as a Dental Specialist. During his time of service, he served 2 years in Germany, returning to the States at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

He was employed at General Motors, Lansing, Michigan dedicating 26 years to various jobs, and a member of the UAW Local 652. Charles wore many hats at GM and made lifelong friends during employment.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Flores and Michael Conner; his beloved mother, Dolores (Dennis) Flores-Wintersteen; grandchildren, Caiden Flores and Azariah Turner; sisters, Pamela Renee Davis, Lisa Marie (Clint) Adkins and Rev. Desirae (William) Kelley-Strong, uncles; Jose Flores, Jr., Charles Coleman of Battle Creek, MI, Gordan Whitney of Albion, MI. and Fredrick Coleman of California, and host of cousins. Special friends, Quincy Jones, Raymond Harris, Tresha Gayley, Shannon Hodge all of Lansing, MI., mentor and adopted father, William "Fluffy" Funderberg, of Alabama.

He is preceded by his grandparents, Jose and Gloria Flores, Benny and Arlene Whitney; uncles, Ricardo Flores and Daniel Flores, Augustas D. Coleman and Michael Colman; special friend, Juan Hodge.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224. Visitation will take place from 1:00PM – 2:00PM with a funeral service following 2:00PM. The family would like to invite guests to a luncheon following services, location to be announced. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Albion, MI at a later date.
