Elon Precious Smith was born on July 2, 1998, in Albion, MI, to her loving parents, the late Eleice Delean Pearson, and Travis Smith.
She primarily attended public school in Albion and Jackson, MI, and briefly at North Carolina Public Schools. In June 2017, she graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, MI, where she participated in the school choir and the Marshall Singers all four years. Elon further pursued her education, at Jackson College in Jackson, MI, where she accomplished her associate’s degree in Business Administration in May, 2025. It was this milestone which reflected her love of education, perseverance, determination, and commitment to achieving her goals.
Elon was a fun and loving young lady who enjoyed singing, songwriting, acting, cooking, game nights, and family gatherings. She was the jokester with family and friends alike, and great at portraying different voices as she advised others about life.
After the devastating passing of her mother in April of 2015, Elon lived with her loving Auntie Marquetta Frost and her cousins/sisters Maya Caldwell and Maliya Frost. She was like a daughter, never a niece, and was introduced to many travel and job opportunities. She participated in Michigan State University’s Gear Up program and the 4-H Creative and Expressive Arts program. Both organizations prepared her for and monetarily supported Elon through college.
Throughout her adult life, Elon was a hardworking and dependable employee. She was employed with Marshall Public Schools as a Paraprofessional at Harrington Elementary School until her passing. She touched the lives of so many youth and families, coworkers and community members along the way.
Above all, Elon was a God-fearing woman whose faith guided her daily life. She was baptized early as a child and later became a faithful member of Build Them on the Rock Ministries under Pastors Carol and Victor Brown. She had a servant’s heart, and she shared her love of singing and worship with her church family.
To know Elon was to love her. She had a special gift for making others feel the love of Christ. Her warm and special smile brightened any room, and her infectious laughter brought comfort and happiness to those around her. Though Elon is no longer with us physically, her legacy of faith, kindness, laughter and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her Father: Travis (Willie) Smith; Step-Father: Theopolis Quarles; Great-Grandmother: Gladys Embry; Sisters: Nneka Smith, Lekia Blake, Brandy and Charlotte Williams; Brothers: Shammon Moss, Anton and Ronnie Williams; Aunts: Marquetta Frost, Marsha Caldwell, Detria (Palmer) Caldwell, Philroedria (Winston) Thorpe, and Laura Brown; Great Aunts: Hattie Embry, Joyelette Isaac, Rachel Lewis, Rose Jackson, Wendy and Minnie Smith; Uncles: Darnell Pearson, Dennis (Gladys) Reid, Glen and Burles Caldwell, Paris (Joyce) Caldwell, Herschel (Jennifer) Caldwell, Scylard (Susan) Smith, Michael Smith, and Hodge Ellis; Great Uncles: Bruce Embry, Mose Smith Jr., and Willie Edwards Jr.; Nieces: Za’harianna Moss, Akame Williams, Tahashi Smith, Ilene Hamil, Akira, Aubrie, and Kyarra Williams, Anayah, Amari, and Amih Boone; Nephews: Anton Williams Jr., Darell Echols, Kenyatta and Emanual Booker; Close cousins aka "Gang-Gang": Maya Caldwell, Maliya Frost, Brianna Blake, Jason Thorpe, Jaslyn and Jaya Smith, Ivan Green III, and Ariana (Marcus) Hughes; Special Friends: Abrianna Armstrong, Alysha Spence, Alonda Wood, Dionee Rogers, Janet Lowe, Sierra Mccarrall, Bria Howell, Katrina Millet, Lillie Whetstone, and Felaina Valentine; And a host of loving cousins, family and friends.
