Evelyn Mae Hill

Age 81 transitioned into rest Sunday August 23, 2015 under the loving care of her family and Sparrow Hospice. She was born April 19, 1934 in Albion the daughter of Hosie and Annie (Thomas) Watts. She married Otis Hill, Jr. and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1998. Evelyn was a lifetime faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church and she loved her church family. She was a very dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother who loved cooking and family gatherings. She also loved Blues music, shopping, getting dressed up and outings with her friends, especially her fellow members of the Ten Vogues Social club.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sequanda Watts, Francine Watts, Verlena (Henry) Hill-Robinson, Steven Hill; 11 grandchildren: Antonio (Rita) Kurtz, Cheirie Watts, Marvell Hill, Chad (Trisha) Watts, John Cooper, Malcolm Robinson, Steven (Caitlin) Hill II, Michael Robinson, Lauren Hill, William Hill, Drew Hill, Lucas Vincent, Emma Vincent; 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, sister, Patricia Barnett, sister-in-laws, Lucelle (Jack) Avant, Sarah Watts, brother-in-law, Randy Gelispie, a host of nieces, nephews and friends, special friends, Florence Truss, Joan Hill, God-child, Pamela Anglin-Brown and Caregiver, Danita Grier.

Besides her loving husband, Otis, Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Bertha Watts, Helen McCollum, Thomas Watts, Mildred Watts, Violet Gelispie and Roland Watts.

The family wishes to extend special gratitude to McLaren Medical Center, Pine Rehab in Lansing, Sparrow Hospital and Sparrow Hospice for the exceptional, loving care given to Evelyn.

Evelyn’s family will celebrate her life on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church, 523 Washington St., Albion, MI 49224 beginning with family hour at 11:00 AM followed by a homegoing service at 12 Noon with Pastor Charlie C. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Albion. Arrangements are entrusted to J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI.
