Helen was a graduate of Albion Senior High class of 1964. She went on to pursue a career in Nursing and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1968. After graduation, Helen met the love of her life, William B. Murphy and the two married and have been married 46 years. To this union they gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Helen Bonita Williams.
Helen was employed at State Farm for over twenty- five years. After retirement, she opened her own business called American Global and community. This business gave Helen the opportunity to work with young people in providing them with training in finance, employment, education and traveling.
Helen was able to pull her talents and wisdom into her only granddaughter Abriana in whom she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with her. Helen was fluent in speaking French and enjoyed doing gymnastics. Most important Helen loved the Lord. She was a member of New Life Ministries International under the leadership of Apostle Timothy Kurtz. Helen loved to play the tambourine, sing, praise the Lord, and most important to her was her worship to the Lord.
Helen was received into the Lords arms on January 22, 2019, leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, William B. Murphy; daughter Bonita (Nathief) Williams of Albion; sisters, Lovie Lorain (James) Smith and Verena (Tony) Westbrook Sr.; brothers, Eddie (Deloris) Washington and Robert (Rosyln) Washington; granddaughter, Abriana Armstrong Murphy; grandson, Ollie Dre Williams, who called her :Grandma Helen”; and a host of family members and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Wanda Taylor and a brother, Jessie Washington.
Funeral Service will be Friday, February 1, 2019 at 12:00PM at Grace Temple Church of God
in Christ, 711 Grace Street, Albion, MI 49224 with family hour starting at 11:00AM prior to the service with Apostle Tim Kurtz officiating.
