Mary Lee Holt

Mary Lee Holt “Granny” age 96 passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at her home under the loving care of her family and Oaklawn Hospice. With our broken hearts, we know God needed a special angel when he touched and picked her.

Mary was born on May 1, 1923 in Roanoke, VA the daughter of Leamon and Flora (Davis) Saylor and they preceded her in death. She came to Albion in 1953, married Sherman Holt in December of 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1978.

Mary was a faithful member of the Christ Apostolic Church; in her words, “I believe in the Old Apostle Faith” She taught and worked the nursery and also the Ladies Ministry.

She deeply loved her family and was proud to call her children and grandchildren “her babies”. She was a very loving woman and everyone who knew her, loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sherman, Mary was also preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde E. Lampkin, sisters: Trula Whitehead, Gloria Mae Holt, brother Leamon Saylor, Jr. and son-in-law, Rev. J.W. Northcutt.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Barbara Northcutt, son, Clyde R Lampkin, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, sister Doshia Fee, and brother, James E. Saylor.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 beginning from 10AM until the time of her service at 12PM at Christ Apostolic Church. 503 N. Superior St., Albion with Pastor David Trammel and Rev. Jared May officiating. She will be laid to rest immediately following in Riverside Cemetery, Albion.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Oaklawn Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the service.
