Pamela was born on July 8, 1948, in Ionia, MI. She was the daughter of Omer Bernard Schuster and Celeste Francis Miller. She graduated from Portland High School in 1966.
She found the love of her life, Fred L. Nelson and they married in 1968. They had two sons, Brian and Shawn Nelson. Pam spent the majority of her younger years as a stay at home mom.
She was a woman who found her greatest joy in family life and friendship. Her home was always a place where everyone felt welcomed. She loved cooking , clipping coupons from the Sunday paper, making cookies and fried cakes, and watching the cooking Network. Her perfect evenings were spent unwinding to her favorite game shows with a bowl of ice cream or a bag of popcorn, searching the pages in word search book, or her and Fred would sit at the kitchen table and play game after game of Yahtzee. She cherished the old Saturday night poker and dinner gatherings with her dearest friends and family, creating memories that her loved ones will carry forever.
Pam loved getting gifts for people in her family, and those that she cared about. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She never hesitated to ask how she could help. She made holidays pretty exciting; whether it was Easter egg hunts, scavenger hunts, Christmas presents from all of her TEMU finds, or just random just because gifts for kids and adults. The food for those events was always in abundance. When she was unable to prepare and cook the food on her own; she always made sure that there was enough, and then she would still order chips, drinks, or sides just to really make sure that there was enough- her generosity and love will never be forgotten.
Pam was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Fred L. Nelson. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Omer Schuster and Celeste "Peggy" (Miller) Schuster; her sisters, Cathy Christenson and Debrorah (Debbie) Smith, her stepdaughter, Pat Odette, son in law, Jesse Odette; her nephew, Brandon Schuster; and her niece, Dawn Price.
Her legacy of love lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her brother, Jeff Schuster. Sons, Brian (Sharon) Nelson and Shawn (Faith) Nelson; stepmother to Donnie Nelson, Connie (Tim) Adams, and Renee Buholz.
She was the proud grandmother of Kayla Nelson (Doug), Katie (Cody) Seedorff, Matt Nelson (Ricky), Harley and Cara Hren, Conner Thompson, PJ (Anthony) Clark, and Tonya Odette.
She was also the adored great-grandmother of Hailey and Khloe Elkins, Lee Bregg, Patrick and Lanna Seedorff along with numerous other grandkids, great grandkids and Great-great grandkids. As well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
A celebration of Pamela's life will be held at the B.E. Henry Building, 615 S. Marshall Ave., Marshall, MI 49068 on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 12-5pm. We all know how much Pam enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. The family is asking if you would bring a copy of a special recipe of a dish that you enjoy. The family would like to make a recipe book from all of the different recipes from this memorial as a tribute to Pam.
