Phynetha Odom-Williams

Phynetha Odom-Williams, born October 14, 1959 in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Willie J. Williams and Gearlean Williams, both preceding her in death. Phynetha joined and was baptized in her youth at Bethel Baptist Church in Albion, Michigan, she was currently fellowshipping at Bread of Life Ministries in Albion, Michigan.

During her school years she attended Albion Public Schools from Kindergarten through High School. In high school she played girls basketball and was President of the Student Council during her senior year. Phynetha was an enthusiastic Albion High School Wildcat, participating on the Albion High School Old School Reunion Planning Committee since 2011. Once graduating in 1978, she moved on to attend Central Michigan University to continue her studies, also becoming a Kappa Sweetheart.

In 1998, she became employed by the State of Michigan, Department of Corrections, as a Maximum Security Officer, for which she served up to the date of her passing. She previously worked for the Lansing Public School District as a bus driver for special education students for which she loved each and every one of them and called them her babies.

Phynetha was the third offspring of six (6), cherishing her memory are the other five (5), Brent Kirk of Yazoo, Mississippi, Rita F. Young of Detroit, Michigan, Jerry Williams of Lansing, Michigan, Terry Williams of Antioch, Tennessee, and J. Britney Williams of Atlanta, Georgia. Although she did not have any offspring she loved to help raise her nephews and nieces, Jamari Hill (Rosita), Dominique Williams, Je’taiya Hill, Jeremy Williams, and Jerome Hill, Jr. (future wife Seany), Katrina Kirk (preceding in death), Brandon Curtis Kirk, Jr., Carlos Holmes, Coby Holmes, Karen Phillips, Purnell Phillips, Courtney Hollies, Willie James Willis, Brandon Holmes, B.J. Phillips, and Ashley Holmes.

From a very young age Phynetha developed life long friendships that still resonate today, she loved to travel, shop, and have a great time. She will be greatly missed by all family and friends.

Services for Phynetha will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Freeway Church, 28900 B-Drive N, Albion, MI 49224. A family hour will take place from 11:00AM - 12:00PM with the funeral service following at 12:00PM. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Albion, MI. A repass will be held at Freeway Church following services.
