

Sue was born November 11, 1946 in Canton, Ohio to Rosemary Sheldon. She was raised in the Tekonsha/Litchfield area.
In 1964 she met the love of her life Leon Wooten, Jr. and they married 2 years later. They started their married life in Homer, eventually buying a house in Albion where they lived for 15 years. Later buying her grandmother’s house in Marshall. When her health started to fail she moved in with her daughter Dawn.
When her children were little she worked as a lunch lady at Harrington School in Albion. Later working as a waitress at the Dinner Bell. After moving to Marshall, she took a job at Kmart from which she retired.
Sue loved to play Bingo, karaoke, shopping, and garden. She looked forward to camping season, spending summers at Tri Lake Trails Campground.
She had a beautiful singing voice and will be remembered for her silly songs. Her infectious laugh was hard to ignore and was extremely contagious.
Sue is survived by her Children: Dawn (Dean Plato) Norman of Battle Creek, Johnny (Tasha Smith) Wooten of Battle Creek; Grandchildren: Christopher (Amanda) Easterwood, Natasha Southworth, Jessie Wooten, Mykayla (Alex) Byrd; 9 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandson; Brother, Steve Ashba of Marshall; Sister, Cherie (Ashba) Weeks of Osseo, MI and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Leon of 38 years, her Parents, Paul and Rosemary Ashba, Brother, Paul Ashba, Jr., Sisters, Lucinda Ashba and Darlena Smith.
Services to celebrate Sue’s life will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 (which would have been her 60th wedding anniversary with Leon). Visitation will start at 12 Noon until the time of service at 1PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI. She will then be laid to rest next to Leon at Rice Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Calhoun County Humane Society.
