Walter Lee Clark

In April of 1956, Walter married Chizuyo Shiotani in Osaka, Japan. Walter was a member of the United States Army, stationed in Japan while serving in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Walter moved to Albion, Michigan.

In Albion, Walter worked at the Mill Wright at Hayes Albion (Malleable), various bowling alleys around the state, a typewriter shop repairing typewriters, and Albion Community Hospital (Trillium). Walter also coached bowling for many, including his daughter, Akia, grandson, Aian, and nephew Carlton. Walter also coached high school bowling for Albion High School for a few years.

Walter loved bowling and golf passionately! If you needed him, he was at a bowling alley, golf course, or fixing something in his garage. His Saturday mornings were spent bowling with Akia and Sunday's golfing with Akia. Walter made his grandson Aian a set of golf clubs at the age of 1.

Walter was able to fix or build anything. He welded, was an auto mechanic, built anything he was asked to build, and repaired anything he was asked to repair. If Walter saw a tool on the side of the road while driving, you can guarantee that he was pulling over to pick up his “new tool”.

He leaves to cherish and honor his memory his daughter, Akia Clark (Maurice Fitzpatrick), and two grandsons, Aian Sanders and Avin Clark. A host of nieces and nephews, nephew and godson Carlton Clark. Special friends Steve and Lynn Munier of Arizona, and special son Codie Sanders.

Preceding him in death were his parents William and Ollie Mae (Stone) Clark, his wife Chizuyo (Shiotani) Clark, siblings, Odie, Roy, Richard, Charles, and Virginia.

Walter will be missed but his kind face, genuine smile, extra loud laugh, coachings, and teachings will be remembered by the lives he touched.

Walter was a simple man and wanted simple services. His family will have a funeral service at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI. Services will be held on July 18, 2025, with family hour from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Albion Memory Gardens.
