

Alan Evan Stoker met his Savior on Saturday, March 4, 2023, after entering hospice at Israel House in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at Nevada Baptist Church in Nevada, Iowa, on Thursday, March 9. A visitation will start at 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will occur at the Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames, Iowa. The service will be live-streamed.
Alan was born on March 30, 1944, in Utah, to Wendell and Mildred (Bennett) Stoker, and as a young boy moved to Seattle, Washington. There, he met and married his lifelong best friend, Sharon (Gardner) Stoker, on August 20, 1965.
Alan received a Bachelor of Theology/Pastoral Studies degree from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, in 1969. He returned to Seattle as Assistant Pastor at Gatewood Baptist Church before bringing his family to Hawaii in 1981. As a missionary pastor, he started at the Halelewa Baptist Church in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, where he pastored until his retirement in Ames, Iowa, in 2013. His greatest joy was studying and teaching the Bible and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; three children, Julianne, James, and Jonathon; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
