

David graduated from Buffalo High School in 1958, proudly belonging to the final class to attend the school. He continued his education at Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Throughout his professional career, David took great pride in his work designing urban highways across the state of Iowa, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served. On October 8th, 1966, David married the love of his life, Sharon, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
A man of many interests, David enjoyed reading, learning about the world and challenging himself with puzzles. He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to football. He was a dedicated supporter of Iowa State athletics and even served as an usher at Iowa State football games for many years. He took particular joy in following teams that included Iowa State University graduates.
David was deeply committed to service and community. He was an active member of the Lions Club, where he served as a District Governor and was honored to be sworn in during a ceremony in Hong Kong. He and his beloved wife, Sharon, cherished attending the annual district governor reunions, where they formed lasting friendships.
Faith was an important part of David’s life. He was a devoted and active parishioner at Gilbert Lutheran Church, where he participated in the men’s Bible study group and contributed generously of his time and energy.
David will be remembered by his family and friends as an exceptionally intelligent, thoughtful, and well-read man. He was generous with his time, always willing to lend a
helping hand or share his knowledge with others. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and service that will not be forgotten.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Berryhill and Ruth Berryhill (Bond); his brother, James Berryhill; his eldest son, Scott Berryhill; and several aunts and uncles.
David will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Sharon Berryhill (Hutton), his son, Jeffrey Berryhill and his daughter-in-law Nancy Berryhill; his grandchildren, Wyatt and Charlotte Berryhill; his sisters, Esther Smith and Ruby McCullough; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Williams and Wilma Porter.
