Louise was born May 12, 1933 to Royal John and Zelphia (Yardley) Alexander in Pollock, Missouri. When she was very young, the family moved to Story County, Iowa, where she was raised and graduated from Ames High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Lowell Irvin on November 11, 1956. To this union, five children were born.
She was employed by the USDA National Veterinary Services Lab in Ames as part of the national and international training programs from 1973 until her retirement in 1995. A member of LifePointe Church (formerly First Assembly of God) in Ames, Louise was a devoted Christian and spent her life spreading the word of Christ. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and participating in Women's Ministries. She also held Bible studies and church gatherings in her retirement community. She found much comfort and joy in prayer, worship, and song.
Louise was a loving sister, mother, and grandmother, and is survived by her children: Lea Ann Hobbs of Garwin, Karen of San Francisco, CA, Teresa Dale (Dave Bradley) of Nevada, David (Sharon) of Lincoln, NE, and Laura of Nevada; her grandchildren: Justin Middle (Nicole Corso) of Las Vegas, NV, Ashley Middle (Matt Hall) of Polk City; Amanda Dale of Yankton, SD, Dylan Hoefer of Nevada, Larissa and Lowell Irvin of Lincoln, NE, and Rhea and Paige Strong of Nevada; two brothers: Ron (TaeSan) Alexander of Huntsville, AL, and Jerry (Mattie) Alexander of Punta Gorda, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Dean, Carroll, infant Keith, and Bill; sisters Colleen Jensen, Ruby Frangos, and Marilyn Van Patter; and nephew Steven Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Story Medical Senior Care Activities Fund.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is having a private burial.
