Donald W Shappell

Donald W Shappell, age 72, of Ackley, Iowa passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Donald was born May 7, 1949 in Iowa City, IA to Ralph and Florence (Curtis) Shappell. He was a United States Veteran, and served in the U.S. Army.

Donald worked in maintenance, and was employed at nursing homes and apartment complexes for handicapped and elderly people. In his free time he enjoyed working on cars and mechanicals, as well as woodworking. He remodeled houses for his family including all the steps from siding, insulating, and electrical to plumbing and wallboard, finishing the houses with beautiful handcrafted cabinetry. Donald also loved spending time with his family, and grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife (Ruth) Roxanne; daughters Rebecca Shappell and Lisa Shappell Chatfield; and grandchildren Tabitha and Isabelle Chatfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son-in-law Jeremy Chatfield.
