Edna Mae Whetstone, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at her home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Steven’s Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames with burial at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Edna was born September 8, 1937, to Clifford Chris and Alice Ellen (McDonald) Larson in Iowa City. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Edna’s passions were bingo, cooking, and family. She married Harold Lloyd Whetstone on May 1, 1953, in Nevada, IA. Edna worked as a small press operator at 3M in Ames for 23 years before her retirement.
Edna is survived by her children, Clarice (Stewart) Sharp, Gerald “Jerry” (Patty) Whetstone, Kim (Jerry) Noble, Sister Brenda Whetstone-Dubuque Franciscan and Robert Whetstone; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lois Brown, Larry Larson, Ada Frodyma, Robert Larson, Eileen Brennan; and two sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; siblings, Mary Belle Larson, Clifford Larson, Virginia Ullrick, Vivian Anderson, Chester Larson, Rose Warren, and Evelyn Frier.
