Frank Edward Blair, 90, passed away on November 15, 2021 at Edencrest in Ankeny. A service will be held at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames on Saturday, November 20 at 10:30 A. M with visitation before the service at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow the service at Ames Municipal Cemetery. A luncheon will be served following the burial service at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Frank was born to William and Helen (Coy) Blair on February 11, 1931 in Ames Iowa. Frank lived in Ames attending Ames public schools and Iowa State University. He graduated from Iowa State with a B.S. degree in Dairy Industry. He served two years in the U.S. Airforce from March 30, 1954 to March 29, 1956. After serving in the Airforce Frank worked for the Iowa Dept. of Transportation as a materials inspector until his retirement in 1996.
Frank loved to golf, hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle, vacationing at Okoboji, and most of all spending time with his family. He was friendly, smart, caring, stubborn, reliable, responsible, had a great sense of humor, an all-around great guy. He was particularly fond (and good at) teasing all the members of his family.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Grace Blair and William Alexander Blair, two brothers, Jack Blair, and Ted Blair, 2 nephews Mike Blair, and Trent Krueger 2 nieces Debbie Blair, and Tracey Krueger and great niece Christina Frantz.
Frank is survived by two sisters, Pat, Des Moines, and Sandy (Darwin), Alburnett, 16 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
