Greg will always be remembered as the sweetest and most unselfish person when is ever encountered. It would do us all a bit of good to reflect and walk in those same shoes.
I look forward to seeing him again in the resurrection.

Our sympathy and prayers to all of Greg's family. I'm sorry we were unable to attend his service. Watching the video tribute brought back good memories of Greg with his red hair, freckles, big smile and the times at my parents farm with his family. You can see how important family and friends were to him. What a nice tribute. May all the memories bring comfort to all of you.
Sincerely,
Tom and Terri (Riordan) Rierson

Being part of Greg's circle of friends was a rich privilege. Greg was humble, friendly and downright hilarious all the time. So missed already. God bless you all- my prayers for God's nearness and comfort are for you in your sorrow and grief.

I worked with Greg at the Iowa State Center, Scheman Building for many years. Greg and his brother Mark were also good friends with my son Alan Widener. We shared a lot of laughs and great times. Greg always had a funny joke to tell me. Greg will be greatly missed.

The Gerstein and Radosevich Family had four kids graduate Ames High School together. With that said we all became good friends. Greg was in my late brother Mike’s class. I will always remember his friendship to us and particularly to my brother Mike. Mike had Epilepsy and Greg was always there as a caring friend. Greg will be greatly missed to all of us that have had the honor of knowing him.
I have fond memories of the time Greg touched my life. My deepest condolences to the Gerstein Family.

Here is a brief post about my father:

I lost my dad, Greg Gerstein, Monday morning at the age of 60. He was a caring, goofy man who was generous to a fault- and I'm pretty sure he knew every resident of Ames. He instilled in me a love of dad rock, the ocean, and crappy 80s horror films.

We had ups and downs over the years but his love for my mom and me never wavered. I will remember him as an incredibly loving father and husband to my mother, who he cared for in his adult life.

I love and miss him so much.

There will be a memorial service for dad at 11:30am this Saturday 11/01 at Steven's Memorial Chapel in Ames.

I lost one of my dear boyhood neighborhood friends who I kept in touch with for all these years. It's still hard to accept that he won't be there to hang out with when I come back to Ames. Luckily I had the good fortune to get invited to a family get-together 10 days ago in Minneapolis and was able to spend some quality time with him. His last words he said to me is that he loved me. I will never forget his overly nice and humble personality. Coming back to Ames won't be the same anymore. My heart and prayers go out to his family. Greg , may you rest in peace.

If we’re blessed we have wonderful people come into our lives. People who make us smile, who bring sunshine into our world simply by being who they are.... Greg was one of those people. We were all very blessed ...
