Gwen Thompson

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th Street, Ames, Iowa 50010. Visitation will be held one-hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be immediately following the service at Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbert, Iowa.

Gwen Sue Thompson was born on January 11, 1937, at her family home in Gilbert, to Floyd and C.Alberta (Harris) Anderson. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Thompson on May 2, 1959, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, Iowa.

Gwen was a lifelong resident of Gilbert Iowa. She was a Board Secretary for Gilbert School for over 30 years. She enjoyed quilting, woodworking, going to craft shows and showing her crafts for sale, camping with friends and travelling with Kenneth on their Goldwing Motorcycle.

Gwen is survived by her two children, Kristi (Denis) Gibson and Julie (Chad) Keane; five grandchildren, Breanna, Shelby, Lauren, Daniel, and Beth; six great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Fuldner, and a brother, Keith Anderson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and parents.

Memorials may be directed to the family and will be given to a charity of their choosing at a later date in memory of Gwen.
