He was born in Chicago, IL, August 6, 1945. Lee was active in several groups at the Planetarium in Chicago, IL. He could show you any planet or constellation in the sky, and name all the planets. He was in a rocket club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George F. Hand, Esther A. (Round) Hand; wife, Sally (Haywood) Hand and Claire Hand of Oak Park, IL; and a sister, Mary W. Askari.
He is survived by his children, Chris (Jeana) Hand of Ames, IA, Kelly Thomas of Clinton, IA, and Anthony (Laura) Hand of New Brighton, MN; step-children, Frank Haehnel and Jenny Haehnel of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Stephanie Hand, Ryan Thomas, and Madison Thomas. Lee is also survived by two brothers, Parker W. (Barbara) Hand, and George O. (Merva) Hand, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
