Robert Dale Angus
October 2, 1930 – April 30, 2014
Robert “Dale” Angus was born in American Falls, Idaho, to Stephen Robert and Afton (Parker) Angus. Dale was raised in Orland, CA on a dairy farm operated by his father and uncles. He attended University of California at Davis where graduated with both a Bachelor’s of Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Following graduation, he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, for the large animal residency program. In 1957, he moved to Pocatello, Idaho, for the USDA as an area veterinarian. While in Pocatello, he met and married June Wheeler, whom he met at a LDS Institute dance. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 10, 1961. The couple then moved to Boise where Dale was the area epidemiologist for the USDA. Their first son, Stephen Wade, was born while they were in Boise.
A short time later they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota for Dale to pursue his Master’s of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. It was in Minneapolis that their daughter, Jyll, joined the family. A couple of years later, they moved to Ames, Iowa where Dale was employed at the USDA National Animal Disease Center.
It was in Ames that they spent the next 23 years and were blessed with three additional sons, Scot Alan, Ryan Dee, and Jeff Davis. Dale and June raised their family in Ames and he served in many leadership positions in Ames Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Upon Dale’s retirement, they moved to Bancroft, Idaho where they currently reside.
Survivors include his wife, Vivien June (Wheeler) Angus of Bancroft, Idaho; son, Stephen Wade (Heidi) Angus of Scarsdale, New York; daughter Jyll (Gary) Kern of Soda Springs, Idaho; son, Jeff Davis (Ola) Angus of Kuwait City, Kuwait and daughter-in-law Dawn Angus of Ankeny, Iowa. Dear June & Family:
So sorry to hear about Dale's passing.
To me he was a caring, handsome, intelligent, kind and understanding
I always enjoyed his visits with my family in Boulder City while I was young. Carole and I didn't realize how old he was but she said older than her so then I knew he was really old.
What a full and educated life he lived.
Helping animals, which we all love.
I remembering you attending our daughters wedding, sitting around the
round table at our Secluded Acres home in Henderson. You always took the time to
visit May & Dwayne Parker and then Harold, Sharon and family over the years on the way to attend conventions or meetings.
Harold mentioned calling you recently and I should have because I don't think we heard from each other during the holidays. I just assume we're all going to be on this earth forever but friends and family members are beginning to pass away.
Dale never seemed to complain and always listened while us women chattered away.
I will always remember him and what a wonderful person he is.
All our love, June, and I will call you soon to see how you & family are doing.
If you have extra programs from the
funeral we'd like one or any memories you'd like to share with us.
All our Love, Sharon & Harold

We offer our sympathy. I know something of what Dale went through living in a wheel chair all those years. I enjoyed working with Dale at the Lab. George & Elaine Brown
