Allison Dianne Carter

Allison Dianne Carter passed away on July 27, 2026, in Cary, North Carolina, after a sudden progression of cancer. Allison was grounded in her faith, choosing to live with generosity, gratitude, and hope. Alli made everyday occasions a reason to celebrate. She loved the beach, skiing the mountains of Montana, a good book, adventures with her friends, walking her dogs, and holding Michael’s hand. Alli was a beautiful star who shined on us all.

Born Allison Dianne Peters on November 2, 1971, in Lima, Ohio, to Vivian and Larry, she was raised in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1989 as senior class president. She attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, where she studied business and was an active member of Alpha Phi. Allison started her family in Spokane, Washington, where she welcomed her three children whom she loved with all her heart. In 2007, Alli moved to Apex, North Carolina, and began her career at State Farm. True to her intelligence and work ethic, she moved up from team member to agency field specialist to agent to sales leader, using her gifts to lead others in being the best versions of themselves.

Family will be receiving visitors at Apex Funeral Home on Friday, July 31, from 5 – 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Apex United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 1, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your local chapter of Ronald McDonald House.

Allison is survived by her husband, Michael Carter; her children, Alexandra, Elliot, and Elizabeth Stanford; two stepchildren, Cale and Garrett Carter; her mother, Vivian Johnson; her father, Larry Peters; her sisters, Emily Mus and Marion Peters; her nieces and nephew, Margaret, Charlotte, and Violet Mus, Annalise and Davis Denard; her dogs, Dusty and Dolly, and an abundance of amazing friends. We will forever adore her.
