Alma Margaret Bussick Stitt

Alma was born January 20, 1919 in Bellwood, PA to Charles and Catharine Boller Bussick. She was a graduate of Juniata College, Columbia University, and UNC-Chapel Hill. Alma worked as an elementary school teacher for over 37 years, including 17 years at A.V. Baucom Elementary in Apex. She was an award-winning ballroom dancer through Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Raleigh. Alma had a passion for gardening and a garden she created with her students was named in her honor at A.V. Baucom before her retirement.

Alma is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ross Stitt Sr., her daughter, Cassandra Stitt Blake, her sister, Betty Humphrey, and her parents.

She is survived by her four sons, Ross “Chip” (Mary Ellen), Gregory (Mundia), Tracy (Debbie), and Randall; brother, Pat Bussick; sister, Lena Horton; six grandchildren; and two nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams Street, Apex, NC 27502. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. prior to the service and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
